 Dispute Solutions: Education for Families in Transition

Purpose of this seminar:

This seminar is designed to help parents understand they are both responsible for their children physically, financially and emotionally even when the parents do not live together. The purpose of the seminar is to share information about what their conflict may be doing to their children and to learn skills to minimize their children’s burden. 

Not just for parents:

This Parent Education seminar is not just for parents.  It is also for grandparents, step-parents, significant others, extended family that either live with or care for the children and professionals.  The Center for Dispute Solutions (CDSI) encourages parents to bring someone with them to the seminar who is important in the children’s lives. 

The Seminar:

¨ Engages parents in the problem of children caught in the middle of parental problems and conflicts. 

¨ Encourages parents to let their children know that their reactions to being caught in the middle are normal, and to encourage their children to give feedback when problems occur.

¨ Helps attendees learn new skills and apply them to their own situations.
